11 THINGS ONLY STUDENTS CAN RELATE TO

We are well and truly into the second semester of the uni year now and how we all struggled to get back into the swing of things again. Your parents may have scoffed when you told them how exhausted you are by things, but it's okay; they clearly don't know anything!

Here's 11 things that only students will ever understand!

1) You're tired ALL the time. The time you go to bed makes literally no difference whatsoever to how much energy you have the next day.

2) Every time a lecturer mentions the word ''dissertation'', a little part of you dies inside. Trust me, it soon becomes a daily reality for 2nd years.

3) You have a bit of a love/hate relationship with your SU. It's undeniably a bit crap but it's also a cheap and easy night out. Decisions, decisions.

4) You love your new found sense of independence living in your very own flat/house. Returning home for holidays to nagging parents who complain that your room is such a mess when it isn't (there's literally one thing out of place but okay......) is certainly a shock to the system.

5) When you're away from home, your room becomes some what of a dumping ground/storage room for the rest of your family's crap that they don't want in their own rooms. Gee, thanks.

6) You have an irrational mindset when it comes to budgeting. You will scrimp and save when it comes to doing your weekly food shop but will quite happily hand over £15 for a bottle of Smirnoff. No I still don't understand the logic either but anyway!

7) Speaking of which, who knew food shops could be so expensive?! I'm all about that Aldi's own chocolate for 30p nowadays #studentlife

8) When people ask you if you're planning on going out, the thought of staying in your jammys and watching some Netflix in bed seriously weighs heavy on your mind.

9) The locals basically hate you. It doesn't matter how polite and smiley you are to them; you will always be a slobbish misfit in their eyes.

10) The sheer effort of turning up to a 9am. It makes you wonder how on earth you managed to get to school for 8.30am sharp every morning for 14 years at school.

11) The art that is choosing the cheapest spirit/bottle of wine with the highest percentage for the lowest price. It's a pretty admirable accomplishment, after-all.

And there you have it! 11 struggles that students can so easily relate to.

  13. Hahaha I LOVE this, found myself nodding along with each point. Especially the one about budgeting, won't spend £3 on a meal deal but happily spend £30 on a new Zara dress for a night out! X

  15. Every point you have said here I completely relate to, being in my third year of university. Point 6 is definitely most relatable. I'll hate going over a tenner on a food shop but will spend around 20 quid for a night out, buying pre drink alcohol and then the night itself. Love this post.

  16. This is hilarious - I can totally relate to all of these. We had our dissertation briefing on Friday (I'm in 3rd year) and its starting to get real! How is it possible to write so much (10,000-12,000 words)?! Also, alcohol is where my money goes - I'd be rich if I didn't drink 😂
